Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information and Updates

I know that there’s widespread concern in our community about the Coronavirus (COVID-19), and the health of my clients is my number one priority.

With the increasing uncertainty and growing number of infected individuals around the world, I encourage everyone to take responsibility for themselves and their families. Though the risk remains low, it’s important to take a proactive approach to minimize exposure.

For this reason, the following recommendations are currently in effect for my office:

  • If you’ve recently been in any airport, please wait 14 days before coming in for an appointment in-person.

  • If you or someone close to you has recently traveled to or from Iran, South Korea, China, or Italy, I also ask that you do not come in and shift to either a phone or virtual video appointment.

  • If you or your child has had a fever or other symptoms of illness in the past 24 hours, please contact me to review your options.  Similarly, if you or anyone in your family is immunocompromised, please contact me to talk about options for a virtual appointment.

  • If you are exhibiting any flu-like symptoms, I urge you to stay home, take care of yourself, and seek medical help when appropriate.  Please follow instructions from your medical doctor regarding limiting contact while ill and during recovery.

As of now, I do not plan to close my office next week.  If recommendations from the Center for Disease Control or the Los Angeles Department of Public Health change, I will modify my plans accordingly.  All clients should check their voicemail and email before any scheduled appointments to ensure they do not miss important messages from me.

With the growing uncertainty and anxiety around the current coronavirus pandemic, I remain committed to being available to support you during this time.  Rest assured that if we are meeting in my office, I will be taking additional precautions to disinfect the area and comply with current safety recommendations.

If you have any reservations at all about attending appointments, I encourage you to switch to a secure video appointment with me. Research shows that they can be just as effective as in-person appointments, and we can continue your care without interruption. I have been seeing clients virtually for several years, and I personally find it to be a reasonable substitute arrangement when in-person appointments are not feasible.

Please refer to the CDC’s dedicated 2019-ncov website (https://www.cdc.gov/nCoV) for additional information, and maintain awareness by checking the official communications from the Centers for Disease Control (https://www.cdc.gov) and the World Health Organization (https://who.int).  Selecting a few trusted sources of information and checking them 1-2 times a day can be a great way to manage anxiety in the current situation while still staying informed.
