Autism Awareness 2013
For those who don't know, April has been designated as Autism Awareness Month here in the US. Today, April 2, has been specifically designated as World Autism Awareness Day, as a worldwide effort to promote greater awareness of the condition.
With rates of autism diagnoses increasing over the past decade, it is likely that most of us know a family that struggles with this condition on a daily basis. While researchers are hard at work searching for greater understanding of what causes this condition and how we can best treat it, there is still much we don't know about autism.
Since high-functioning autism or Asperger's disorder is a particular interest and specialty of mine, this month I will be doing several posts related to autism and autism awareness. Keep checking back for more resources on my website as the month progresses!
