Find the Help You and Your Child Need
Are you the parent of a child who, despite being very intelligent and talented, is really struggling with overwhelming emotions or fears?
You know that your child has a lot of promise, but fear, anger, or sadness is keeping him or her from really succeeding the way they could. Your child seems overwhelmed, anxious, and upset too much of the time. He or she may have even told you how bad things are and how much he or she wishes things would change. Your heart hurts for your child, but you don't know what more you can do on your own.
The reality is that helping your child manage his/her emotions has taken so much of your time and left you so drained that you have been ready to give up yourself. It scares you to see how strong the anxiety and depression can be, and you worry about how your child will manage to be successful. You may have read countless books and websites, trying to figure out what more you can do. But you continue to feel overwhelmed yourself, wondering how to help your child best.
We help parents move from feeling overwhelmed by the issues at home to feeling empowered to parent their child more effectively and to advocate more successfully for their child's needs. We will work with you to better understand the struggles your child faces and to reconnect with your child in spite of the challenges.
At the same time, we also partner with your child and work with them on understanding the problem in new ways. Together, we will find new strategies to use to change troublesome and difficult thoughts and behaviors. Simultaneously, we will make a plan for home and school to make sure this translates to real life.
We have the knowledge and expertise to help your child, whether they have one struggle, or multiple struggles. We work with children ranging in age from elementary students to teens and young adults. Here are a few common (and uncommon) areas we have additional expertise and training in addressing:
ADD/ADHD
Anxious or worried kids
OCD
Fears and Phobias
Autism and neurodivergence
Developmental disabilities
Giftedness, particularly "twice exceptional" or 2e kids
Tics/Tourette's Syndrome
Trichotillomania and other body-focused repetitive behaviors
Depression and social withdrawal
In other words, we can help your child. We can help deconstruct what is happening and create a clear, systematic plan so that your kid's real strengths can shine through in their daily life. Overall, the ultimate goal is to improve quality of life for you, your child, and your family as a whole.
