Meditation and Your Brain
A new study from UCLA suggests that years of meditation practice may have a noticeable, positive effect on the brain. Specifically, researchers found that people who have practiced meditation for years have more gyrification in the cerebral cortex - which is associated with faster processing and better memory, among other things. These are exciting findings because they suggest that our activities can have a positive effect on how well our brains work.
Over the last few years, meditation has been gaining popularity as a strategy for managing stress, anxiety, and other negative emotions. This study presents further evidence of the overall positive effects of meditation practice in daily life.
